Made from small bamboo tubes. Soft wool hair holds a lot of water. Tubes can be broken apart to get the width that you need.
Two wooden dowels run through each stem to hold the set together, or you can break the stems apart for a variety of widths (2 stem wide, 3 stem wide, etc.)
